1. Yohji Yamamoto - Advice to artists and people who want to create something.
Found this while scrolling on Virgil Abloh’s free game website, clicked on this one because of my interest in fashion but the website is full of gems.
My favorite provoking excerpts:
“Shut your computer“
“if you want to create something keep resisting the mediocrity”
2. An online writing tool
This one comes from my old bookmarks. I’m drawn to text tools and text editors, and in particular I’m drawn to tools and products that just want to do their job. No signing up, no clicks, no ads. Just the tool working as it is supposed to.
3. A double recommendation: the soundtrack of a movie
Only Lovers Left Alive (Jim Jarmusch, 2013) is one of my favorite comfort movies: visually pleasant, funny yet serious, full of details and references and exquisite sound. The last one being an important quality of a comfort movie to me. I want to feel wrapped by it, and I want it to be so connected to what is going on without it trying to influence my feelings (a big pet peeve of mine) and this film’s music syncs perfectly to the atmosphere. Mainly because Jarmusch is one of the members of Sqürl, so it is designed to fit – a really good example of the aural element done great: a soundtrack that enhances the overall aesthetic experience.
Anyway, enjoy! And let me know your thoughts on any of them.
Love the thumbnail graphic and love Only Lovers Left Alive. I love when they bridge Detroit and Tangier in the music. Perfect.
The taste of blood is one of my fav tracks. I like to pair it with Love Remembered.
